About the FESTIVAL
Opera Memphis’ fourth MIDTOWN OPERA FESTIVAL is a one-of-a-kind event, blending opera with arts partners from across the city. It features two intimate chamber operas, family
events, song-filled evenings, and late-night jazz in the heart of Memphis! The 2016 operas
are Peter Brook's The Tragedy of Carmen and
Maurice Ravel's L'Heure espagnole. Additional programming presented in partnership with local institutions includes New Ballet Ensemble's Festival-inspired Springloaded, the Rhodes College Brubeck Festival's socially challenging and musically delightful The Real Ambassadors, and an exhilaratingly fast paced evening of informative talks with Ignite Memphis.
Before and after Festival events, guests are invited to enjoy the Festival Lounge, where friendly bar tenders mix signature cocktails and opera-goers meet and mingle!
