Supers
Being an Opera Memphis Super gives people an opportunity to be on stage without all the pressure! A supernumerary, or super, is a glorified extra who wears the costumes and makeup but does not have to sing or speak. Therefore all the glory with no pressure! No previous stage experience is necessary; just interest being onstage with opera singers! The commitment involves attending staging rehearsals and dress rehearsals beginning three weeks before the opera performances. Supers receive an artist fee for each production and a sense of joy having performed on stage!
