About the opera
LANGUAGE: English with English surtitles
What happened in the moments before Edward Hopper captured his subjects in paint? Why is she alone at a table? What are they waiting for? Later the Same Evening was inspired by five Edward Hopper paintings: "Room in New York," "Hotel Window," "Hotel Room," "Two on the Aisle" and "Automat," and it imagines the lives of a few of his most memorable characters. We see the moments before and after the ones depicted on canvas, as all of the individual story lines converge at a Broadway show one rainy night in 1932.
