For more than a decade, Opera Memphis has delivered a solid month of free, outdoor music events throughout the city with our "30 Days of Opera" program. We've sung for hundreds of thousands of Memphians in hundreds of locations. When the pandemic began in 2020, and we had to cancel the Midtown Opera Festival, we produced a special, all-digital version of "30 Days" in April. At the time, we hoped to be able to do a live version in September, but that proved impossible.
In April of 2021, Opera Memphis was able to bring back 30 Days of Opera with a powerhouse roster of Memphis singers joined by our own Handorf Company Artists. OM singers performed in every zip code in the city of Memphis! Performing in every zip code in a single month was a fantastic undertaking, and our singers proved up to the task. And in April of 2022, we were back at it again with performances throughout the city!
This year will feature TWO months of free opera, both this April and next September. In April, look for us popping in to sing (or even rehearse!) at events and venues across the city. Then in September, join us as 30 Days of Opera provides the framework for the Grand Opening of our new office and rehearsal space!
